Best Exercises to Reduce Pain Due to Peripheral Arterial Disease

Peripheral Arterial Disease usually affects the feet and therefore it becomes difficult to travel long distances. For this, exercising for 30 minutes 3-4 times a week can improve the symptoms of Peripheral Arterial Disease to a great extent. It also improves cardiorespiratory fitness and the quality of life of people with peripheral artery disease. We should take care of the stiffness pain scale while doing exercise. Exercise should be resumed when the pain subsides. Exercise for peripheral artery disease is the best way to treat the condition, whose risk factors include older age, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, smoking, obesity, and diabetes. Surgery may be required in extreme cases of Peripheral Arterial Disease. To avoid Peripheral Arterial Disease, with proper exercise, we can improve blood circulation from the hips to the toes and increase the strength of the muscles in the lower body. As soon as the symptoms of this disease are detected, a doctor should be consulted immediately and physical therapy should be started. Some safe exercises to reduce the pain symptoms of Peripheral Arterial Disease such as:

1. Keep walking intermittently. This will keep the pain improving a bit.

2. Lower Limb Aerobic Exercise

3. Must walk with the help of poles.

4. The toes should be kept moving.

5. Chair rise exercise should be done.

6. To strengthen the legs, reverse lunges exercise should be done daily.

7. Standing Leg Raise Exercise should be done.

Pain free exercise is more beneficial for people suffering from Peripheral Arterial Disease. While exercising, we should keep in mind such activities which can not put too much strain on our heart. For this we should avoid those exercises like-

5. Lifting etc.
